Surprise is located in Maricopa County, Arizona. Surprise was founded in 1938, it was just a small square-mile farming town when it was incorporated in 1960. Now, it's a huge city with new homes and subdivisions springing up all over the place, yet it is still away from the hustle and bustle of the big city in a beautiful country setting. Surprise is a place to you will call home for a lifetime. It's just a six mile drive to Luke Air Force Base and thirty minutes to the airport. Arrowhead Town Center is a quick 8 mile drive east of the city. For those of Surprise that are mentally and physically challenged there is Dream Catcher Park, a premiere sports complex. It's the main philanthropic project of over 500 members from the Surprise Sundancers that help keep our events and city running smoothly. Lake Pleasant is a short distance from Surprise and offers fishing, boating, sailing, swimming, water skiing, camping and scenic boat tours offering beverages and food. All the nearby desert settings encourage horseback riding, hiking and picnicking. Population Median Household Income Median Family Income 30,848 $44,156 $47,899 |
